First in to sweep the floor as a teenager, British Under 18 Champion by 2005. Today he pairs decades on the mat with specialist training in child psychology, SEN and safeguarding.

Real words from people who know Mr Ryu, on the mat and off it.
I trained with Mr Ryu 20+ years ago. He was always one of the most dedicated students in the school. He'd be there every day, first in to sweep the floor and the first to volunteer. I'm so pleased he's teaching the next generation.
My heavily autistic son struggles with social skills and any change. I first met Mr Ryu when he had a STEM education centre. He was the first to 'crack' him and we still stay in contact all these years later! He just has this very kind and patient way with kids.
Follow progress to the next grading, see lesson plans before class and keep the whole family's training in one place.

Absolutely. Classes are beginner friendly and you'll be partnered with a senior student until you find your feet. Extra nervous? Join our 8-week Beginners Course where everyone is an absolute beginner.
Yes. Family sessions are designed so the whole family trains together, with discounts for families. With a parent training, the minimum age drops to 10.
Of course. Lots of adults train by themselves. Anyone over 12 can join, and you'll be partnered with people close to your age and size.
Gradings follow the ITF TaeKwon-Do syllabus, so what you learn applies in clubs worldwide. We also teach elements from other TaeKwon-Do styles such as TAGB, plus heritage and weapons sessions.
We hate long contracts. Membership is rolling monthly and you can cancel anytime.
Sparring is part of the ITF syllabus from Green Belt, but we build you up to it with no-contact and control sessions, and a safe-partnering policy so you train with someone your size and ability.
Everyone's journey is different, but on average around 4 years. And your 1st Dan is just the beginning.
No. Our belts are earned. We only invite students to grade once they've shown the standard needed.
If it's the same or a similar style, very likely. We'll run a placement session, then agree the best route so you can continue where you left off.
No kit needed, no pressure. Come along, meet the team and see if Unity feels like home.
